For the past 25 years, Tällberg Workshop participants have returned home inspired, energized, and often ready to pursue their work in new directions. For the Tällberg Forum 2005, the challenge was to apply this proven concept to an event on a larger scale, and design a learning process that keeps the conversations going.
The Tällberg Forum 2005 could be seen as a smörgåsbord of activities where you could compose a program of your choice. The Forum was built on several central program elements.
The Plenary sessions (one or two per day) provided participants with analyses on the main theme of the Forum. They all took place in the main tent in the Forum Center at Holen. They consisted mainly of panel conversations, with a minimum of prepared statements. They
were open to participating spouses and also to the general public and the media.
The Workshops and Conversations (in total five slots of parallel events over three days) aimed to explore specific themes in more depth. There were 10 workshops and approximately 40 conversations in the program, designed for smaller groups (about 75–100 per workshop and 20–40 per conversation). Workshops and conversations took place at selected hotels and were open to the Forum participants and, space permitting, to spouses and families.
The Reflection groups provided participants with the opportunity, in a more intimate atmosphere, to bring together in conversations a variety of ideas and perspectives, to help structure the thinking, to integrate the learning experience and to allow synthesis to emerge. All participants were assigned to a reflection group that consisted of 10 members. Each group had an experienced facilitator.
In addition to these, there was a rich program of cultural performances, and open space of free time (for informal meetings, excursions, walks or just taking it easy).
