Winter Tällberg Forum
On 23-25 February 2012, the Tällberg Foundation organized its second Winter Tällberg Forum in Sigtuna.

Is Free Speech also the Business of Free Enterprise?

Date: 23-25 February 2012
Location: Sigtunastiftelsen, Sigtuna, Sweden

The 2012 Winter Tällberg Forum took place in the beautiful and reflective environment of the Sigtuna Foundation “Sigtunastiftelsen” just outside of Stockholm. Bringing together 60 leaders, the question posed to participants was “Is Free Speech also the business of Free Enterprise?”.

The objective of this 48 hour conversation was to open up a conversation exploring the role of companies, including those in the media business and those doing business in developing markets, in the promotion, support and protection of free speech. Open and free information is the best tool for creativity, innovation and fair competition. As such free speech must be a cornerstone of open markets and enterprise. But, how much responsibility for ensuring this business environment can reasonably rest with business itself?

The conversations at the Winter Forum resulted in new insights that can reveal strategies for change. This topic will be further addressed at the summer 2012 Tällberg Forum as part of an analysis of the evolving identity of the responsible corporation and the widening role of business in driving change in a world of complex relationships.

Open evening on 24 February, at 21.00-22.00

Performances from:
Mahsa Vahdat, Iranian singer of traditional Persian music. Participant of the Winter Tällberg Forum and ambassador of Freemuse, an independent international organization which advocates freedom of expression for musicians and composers worldwide.
